Kelodin and Kefacin in Orthopaedic Infection


Abstract
Laboratory and clinical studies of two broad spectrum antibiotics, Kelodin (cephaloridine) and Kefacin (cephalexin) are reported.
Clinical studies demonstrated that these drugs are safe and effective in the treatment of orthopaedic and urinary. tract infections: Among the 13 patients with chronic bone and, joint infection who were -treated by Kelodin, 8 were cured, one was improved, and 3 were not improved... 3 cases of acute osteomyelitis were cured by early administration of Kefacin. without sequellae.,. Particular value in staphylococcal infections and prophylactic administration of these antibiotics in. prevention of -wound infection of open fractures is stressed. Tolerance was good except for one case of nausea after Kelodin injection.
